Embrace Change: PhilSCA holds 16th Annual SSC Convention

PhilSCA’s Supreme Student Council (SSC) held a three-day convention composed of a series of talks that focused on embracing change while developing more active PhilSCAn leaders with the theme, “ascending greater heights leading to globally competitive, locally responsive, and culturally sensitive student leaders.” Participated by SSC officers and student organization officers from the four different campuses of PhilSCA, the event was held at Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel in Silang, Cavite.

 

Sir Marlon Maglipas, being one of the guest speakers, tackled the subject of how to motivate and engage students with the mission and vision of PhilSCA that reflect the true purpose of a leader.

Nieck Macalino, former Student Trustee tackled the opportunities and challenges in aviation industry

The rights of the students, as stipulated in the Student Handbook, was discussed by the Dean of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Ma’am Garlie Gonzales who also held an open forum that raised concerns and issues of the students from different campus.

 

Sir Ramsey Ferrer, the Dean of the Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS) of the Villamor Air Base (VAB) campus conducted a workshop on utilizing public speech and exposure, and on nurturing students through aviation research.

 

Engr. Jahaziel Vargas, the Director for Research and Extension Services presented the standardized in research construction process.

Honey Laine Indo raised her suggestions for their constitutions and by laws

The SSC Federation officers, headed by Ma’am Honey Lain Indo, the student trustee, and other school leaders made changes to the SSC Constitution and Bylaws and recommended several revisions for the Student Manual.

The event ended with a message from the SSC Federation Officers complimenting them for holding a successful event despite the odds and for building friendships with each other during the three-day event. It was followed by Assoc. Prof. Jesusa Pasia, Head of the Office of Student affairs in PhilSCA’s Basa-Palmayo campus with a message that inspired the participants for days to come. One of his key takeaways was, “in attaining success in leadership you have to work as a team.”
